When you’re young and In Love - The Marvelettes

Motown Classic from 1967. Ive been listening to alot of sixties albums over the past week, and buying lots of stuff which i knew but didnt own. I just spent about a Tenner on various Small Faces tunes. This is one of my favorite mtowon records, and its probably one thats gonna make you go, “ahh i know this” !

Lost in the Post - The Wombats

I love the Wombats, and their album “a Guide to Love, Loss and Desperation” kind of symbolizes a time in my life for me when i started to care so much more about how I look and what i wear. Not that the music has anything to do with it, just i remember going to lots of house parties and dancing to “Kill the director”. This os one amazing indie album, go check it out on Spotify below.

Tell Me Why - The Beatles.

This is my favourite track of my favourite Beatles album, Hard Days Night. I love all of this album and the brilliant movie, which i reccomend you all somehow buy and watch. The video i’ve found is a collection of clips from the movie. That doesnt mean this is my favourite Beatles song, because I dont have one :)

Come to Milton Keynes - The Style Council

Okay so, before you start saying what the fuck is this…

This is the best song the Style Council made. on the face of it its camp, light hearted and a bit of silly eighties pop song, but take a moment and listen to the lyrics. This is a song thats loaded with an underlying dark sarcasm and a fair bit of resentment. There’s a lot of anti - Thatcherism in here. Alot of people take issue with the way Weller was in this era, but I think it just shows what a versatile musician and performer he is.

As well as being lyrically great, the arrangement is way ahead of its time. Listen to that lovely harp at the end, and the great Style Council organ. This is GOOD pop Music.

Other recommended Style Council songs, for me would be the singles, like “Walls come tumbling Down”, and “My Ever Changing Moods”.

Moving on Up - M People

Ok so cheesy I know. But Heather Small (who is beautiful) is one of my earliest musical memories. M people were a great modern soul band.  Recommended listens include “Proud” and “Search for the Hero”.
